High School Mesa Mall Show

Every spring Super Rad presents a high school art exhibition in the Mesa Mall. This event is open to all high school students in the Grand Valley. The exhibit provides opportunities to display artwork in up to 18 categories, exposure to a wide demographic of mall shoppers, volunteer hours in the gallery used toward graduation requirements, and students enjoy the experience of selling artwork. Each year three professional artists from the community are selected to serve as judges. Handmade trophies are awarded to all 1st place recipients as well as a People’s Choice designated by patron votes.

Senior Show

Each spring at the end of the school year, Super Rad and Colorado Mesa University present a high school senior show in the Fine Arts building of Colorado Mesa University. This exhibition is open to all graduating high school seniors. This experience provides opportunities for students to establish relationships with arts professors and introductions to the arts programs at the university, and to display their finest work.

Mural Jam

Mural Jam is an annual event to kick off the summer season. Held in one of the skate parks, the day begins with a skateboard competition for beginners, intermediate, and advanced skaters with prizes for each level. Throughout the day mural artists paint a section of the park to music provided by performers and DJs. A cash prize is awarded to the mural that receives the most votes. A fee of $5 is charged to participate in both the skateboard competition and the mural competition.

Illustration-A-Thon

Illustration-A-Thon is an annual event where local artists come together to fundraise for Super Rad through art-on-demand. Visitors to the event can pay to have local artists illustrate black and white or color designs while they watch. This event is always a big hit in the community, and fun for both kids and adults. Everyone loves one of a kind and custom art!

Teen Art Exhibitions

Mesa County Libraries and Super Rad Art Jam have teamed up to present the Teen Art Exhibitions to be held at the Central Branch in the teen section of the library. This exhibition serves to highlight the artistic expressions of local youth in middle school art programs and teens in the community at large. Exhibits are planned throughout the school year, with several exhibiting opportunities open for all teens in various times of the year.
