aRT is designed to transform underpasses along the Riverfront trail into vibrant, colorful artistic expressions that enhance the trail users’ experienc. aRT is a fluid process with murals changing annually, bringing in new and fresh designs to the Riverfront Trail. Through aRT, we will expand our rich artistic community and provide spaces to nurture budding artists and create a more vibrant place to play in our community.
aRT is spearheaded by Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture & Riverfront Commission with a valley-wide coalition of partners including: Grand Junction Police Department, Colorado Department of Transportation, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Mesa County Health Department, Super Rad Art Jam, Urban Trails Committee, Mesa County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and City of Grand Junction Public Works, Community Development, and Parks and Recreation Departments.
The aRT committee is proud to announce that 7 local artists have been chosen to paint their murals on the piers and skirts of the overpasses that cross the Riverfront Trial. The paint-out occurred on October 15th as the kick off for this project.
